Toyota Patent lawsuit update

Toyota and Antonov are embroiled in a lawsuit over a patent dealing with Toyota's hybrid vehicle drivelines in the Toyota Prius and Lexus RX 400h.

It seems Antonov is expecting a judgement in Germany in its favor, but Toyota has opened up a separate lawsuit in Japan.

According to a press release, "Antonov believes that Toyota's hard-line action in Japan indicates its apparent lack of confidence with regards to winning the German court judgement expected in August this year and is attempting to force Antonov to negotiate a settlement under the threat of significant costs incurred via the courts in Japan.

Toyota is also currently under investigation in the US over patent law infringement in a complaint made by Florida based Solomon Technologies, Inc. Solomon Technologies filed a complaint against Toyota for infringing on a patent it holds related to motor and transmission systems used in its hybrids.
