While the talks are only tentative at this point, GM is looking at a possible alliance with Nissan (and Renault). Ghosn, CEO of Renault, SAS and Nissan met with Rick Wagoner, CEO of GM to explore the possibility.
A reviewing period to explore the benefits will take place for about 90 days. At that point, it will be decided whether to continue the talks.
Ghosn, after his work at Nissan, has a reputation for turning around troubled car companies. It may be worth noting that Wagoner is being depicted as fighting the alliance from within GM.
