Hybrid Buyers Stall Dealers to Claim Tax Credit

Proving that hybrid car buyers are smarter than your average car buyer, they are now stalling on delivery of their new cars until January first, allowing them to be eligible for the up to (estimated) three thousand dollars in tax breaks next year.

You should expect December sales of hybrids to be way down, while January numbers should break out.

"I've got cars on the ground that I'd had (on) order for 18 months, and the customers want delivery after the first of the year," says Debbie Tufts, new car sales manager at Rudy Luther Toyota in Golden Valley, Minn.

"We have seen it around the country," Toyota spokeswoman Nancy Hubbell says.
