12 models manufactured in 2001 are affected, including the Toyota Prius. In the US alone, nearly 8,500 Prius are being recalled along with 25,000 Echo and Yaris.
A faulty engine part could lead to an oil leak within the engine, causing it to stop completely. There have been no accidents due to the fault.
