Australia is looking to push auto makers into making hybrids. Parliamenty secretary, Greg Hunt at the Environment Ministry told reporters "the government is in direct contact with manufacturers and is encouraging them to retool and take advantage of world trends toward more fuel efficient vehicles."
Car makers are being asked to put proposals to the government on hybrid car development. The Australian government has spent $1.53 billion on initiatives to reduce global warning.
