The Chevy Tahoe Hybrid is beginning to show up in dealerships. This story accentuates the scarcity by noting that only one dealership in northwest Arkansas has received the Tahoe Hybrid so far. GM is hoping to sell 10,000 units of the Yukon Hybrid and Tahoe Hybrid in combined sales.
The Tahoe Hybrid is built using the dual mode hybrid system co-developed by BMW and DaimlerChrysler. The EPA rated the fuel economy as 21 mpg city, 22 mpg highway for the 2WD; 20 mpg city/20 mpg highway for the 4WD model. The Tahoe Hybrid and Yukon Hybrid are being built in Arlington, Texas, while the two-mode engine is built in Baltimore. It's MSRP has been set at over $50,000.
The Tahoe Hybrid won 2008 Green Car of the Year and was nominated for Truck of the Year.
