Green Car Congress has broken the news on the latest marker for hybrid car sales in the US. Since 1999, with the introduction of the Honda Insight through the end of 2007, hybrid car sales have passed the one million hybrids sold.
The remarkable total has come to 1,002,000 units.
This excludes any GM hybrids, since they don't break out their numbers, but does include Honda, Toyota, Ford, and Nissan.
GCC notes that Toyota has dominated the hybrid car marketplace, despite splitting the market through the first few years with Honda. Overall, Toyota accounted for 73% of all new hybrid car sales.
Head on over to GCC for a few nice charts on the progress hybrid cars have made over the past decade.
