Wayne Gerdes, 'champion' of hypermiling techniques who runs cleanmpg.com was tested by the Early Show on CBS. In a short little jaunt from Chicago to New York driving a Prius, he doubled the fuel economy of their challenger (normal driver from the crew).
The challenger used about 20 gallons of gas, with a fantastic average of 45 mpg. Too bad for him he was up against Wayne, who only used 8.9 gallons, for an average of 71 mpg!
