The ETA Selects the Greenest Cars of 2008

The Environmental Transport Association of England looked at over 1300 models and chose the best models best on power, emissions, fuel efficiency and noise emissions to create a definite guide on the 'greenest' vehicles. The Toyota Yaris was selected as the Green Car of 2008. The worst car was the Dodge SRT-10.

The ETA Selected Top 10 Green Cars were:

  1. Toyota Yaris
  2. Honda Civic Hybrid
  3. Toyota Prius
  4. Renault Modus
  5. Citroën C1
  6. Peugeot 107
  7. Toyota Aygo
  8. Renault Clio
  9. Toyota Auris
  10. Suzuki Swift
Not surprisingly, they are all small family or smaller.

The top vehicles in each category were:
  • Supermini: Toyota Yaris
  • Small Family: Honda Civic Hybrid
  • Small MPV: Renault Modus
  • City: Citroen C1
  • Large Family: BMW 3 Series 320d Saloon

  • Executive: BMW 5 Series 520d Saloon
  • Off road: Toyota RAV4
  • Luxury: JAGUAR XJ 2.7L Diesel Saloon
The Car Buyer's Guide was created in 1992 and is published annually.
