Hyundai will model their Sonata Hybrid at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
The Sonata hybrid will be a parallel hybrid with a lithium-ion battery pack, and Hyundai has a launch date of 2010. The Sonata hybrid is intended to compete with Toyota Camry Hybrid, which means it will also be competing with the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the mild Chevy Malibu Hybrid and the Nissan Altima Hybrid.
The fuel economy may be improved by 20 to 25 percent, but it's too early to know for sure.
Hyundai is supposed to have a hybrid Elantra (Avante) on the road in 2009, but sales will be limited to Korea. It may be an LPG hybrid.
