Toyota over the past week announced their Toyota Certified Used Hybrid Program, which provides added inspection and warranty coverage on certified used Toyota hybrids. (What happened to always referring to used cars as pre-owned?)
Which is a nice thing to have when you buy a used hybrid from Toyota. But be warned, the extended warranty does not cover the battery. It just brings 'added awareness' to the existing eight year 100,000-mile factory hybrid battery warrant.
The warranty does give you a three-month/3,000-mile comprehensive warranty, seven-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and a roadside assistance plan.
They guarantee a quality insurance inspection which includes 14 additional inspection points beyond the current 160-point quality assurance inspection done on other vehicles. The extra 14 points include examination of key hybrid components, such as the hybrid transaxle, control modules and battery.
