Toyota will be tripling their production of the Lexus HS 250h hybrid by October according to a Nikkei report (via Green Car Congress).
2,000 units were produced in July, but Lexus already has 8,600 pre-orders to fill. Pre-production monthly domestic sales targets were set at 500, but hybrids have proven to be more popular than expected in Japan.
Tax breaks and other incentives have pushed hybrid sales through the roof in Japan, with the Prius becoming the most popular model in Japan. The Honda Insight is also provind g to be very popularh in Japan.
