According to the rumormill, Nissan is planning on building a hybrid GT-R by 2012 as a 2013 model.
The report, coming from Insideline, is the new GT-R will be a monster, with 600 hp to burn, but will use only 25-30 mpg. 440 hp will come from the 3.8 liter twin turbocharged V6, with an additional 160 hp from the electric motor.
The hybrid system would be built off of the work going into the hybrid Infiniti M, which will be released next year.
Makes me wonder why they would want to do it? The weight would have to increase, but so would the fuel efficiency and the power output. Are power vehicle buyers really interested in the fuel efficiency of their vehicle?
