AC Transit will unveil it's fuel cell hybrid electric buses provided by Chevron Technology Venutures LLC in a ceremony on March 13th. The buses will be used in commuting services from Alamed County, East Bay and San Francisco.
AC Transit has been using a prototype for the past three years as part of a fuel cell demonstration program being sponsored by local business and government agencies. As part of the program, Chevron installed a hydrogen energy station in Oakland, which features a system that's able to produce hydrogen from natural gas. The hydrogen is then purified, compressed and stored for use in the vehicles.
