Ontario currently refunds the eight percent sales tax paid on hybrids up to a maximum of $1000. But in its 2006 budget, Ontario will now offer a tax rebate with a maximum of $2000.
According to Dennis DesRosiers, head of DesRosiers Automotive Consultants, "Ontarians last year bought a grand total of about 1,000 hybrid vehicles. So, this is going to cost the Ontario treasury about $1 million."
