LONDON — Ford Motor Co. will invest 1 billion pounds (euro1.45 billion; US$1.84 billion) in Britain within six years to develop fuel-efficient hybrid cars, a senior executive said Monday.
Ford is hoping to create a Ford Focus hybrid capable of 70 mpg.
This is another strange indicator from a company that just backed off on their promise to produce 250,000 hybrids by the year 2010. After stating they were going to focus more on flex fuels, Ford has recently announced plans to open a hybrid research and development site through Volvo, and now this. It's hard to know where Ford is going these days.
