The Senate stripped out the tax incentives for hybrid cars from the clean energy bill in Boston. The House version had included tax incentives of up to $2,000 deduction for the purchase of a new hybrid vehicle.
Sen. Steven Panagiotakos, D-Lowell, Senate Ways and Means Charmain was quoted as saying, "We don't have the money. This is just the beginning of a lot of belt tightening as we go forward."
Most likely, the hybrid car incentive will be part of the discussion as differences between the bills will be discussed in committee. But the incentive does not seem to be a high priority for the House, so I don't expect it to be resurrected.
