If battery production is any measure of what kind of plans Toyota has for next year, it's going to be a good year for hybrids. Panasonic EV Energy Co. is planning on building 800,000 hybrid batteries, about 95% of which will end up in Toyota cars in 2009.
That would be a huge increase in numbers, given Toyota sold 429,000 hybrids in 2007.
There may be a limit to the number of Prius being bought and sold in the US at this point, but I guess that sort of limit doesn't apply worldwide or to other hybrid cars.
