The Cadillac XTS, the luxury plug-in hybrid sedan, will be coming next year as a 2012 model. And according to some reports, will replace the Cadillac Converj as the new upcoming plug-in Cadillac.
The Cadillac XTS Platinum, a Plug-in Hybrid |
Cadillac (GM) rejected the idea of developing the Converj concept, a plug-in E-REV built on the Volt architecture, because they believe the demand will not be there. So, it's a bit surprising to hear they are now going to build a different plug-in Cadillac.
They are going to use the plug-in system developed for the Vue, meaning the all electric range will be a lot less. That means they don't have to worry as much about the battery size, which is a major reason the Volt price tag is going to come in at $40,000.
