Public Parking in Chicago may go 'green' if the City Council passes the newest proposal. Ald. Re Colon (35th) is introducing an ordinance to give a free pass to hybrid cars that are parked in public parking spaces.
Colon is suggesting a good way to pay for the 'free parking' is to raise parking meter rates for non-hybrid cars.
Since a majority of the city council probably don't own hybrid cars, my guess is this ordinance won't fly if this 'payment' option is left in.
